GENERAL TRIVIA
The Numen are ethereal beings of unknown origin. They arrived in the place the seven realms sit and decided to build worlds. Some believe the Numen crafted these worlds simply because they wanted to create life and protect it. Others believe the Numen weaved these worlds as sanctuaries for themselves so that they would be safe when their superior inevitably came calling.
Numen are often referred to as ‘eternals’, for they cannot be killed—not permanently. They live outside reality, rules, and what is understood of existence. If their physical bodies are destroyed, they will simply return to the void and restore themselves.
Six moons hang in Alvenguard’s skies—one for each Numen. The Numen possess so much immense power that they cannot enter the worlds with it all intact, and must therefor create beacons to store it inside so that they can access it when walking the world. Numen can also only remain in the real world for no longer than fifteen minutes when bringing their power with them. They can choose to adopt a more mundane, susceptible form, allowing them to exist in the world for as long as they please, but such a choice would leave them vulnerable, and if killed, would return to the void to regenerate.
Only a set number of Numen can be within the world at once. If that world contains enough of their ethos, they can indefinitely hold that space, keeping any other Numen from entering and allowing them to exist within that world with all their ethos intact. Currently, the Numen are battling over the three places that can be claimed within Alvenguard. Letholdus holds one of these.
Lucifer was locked away in a Pandorican, a Numen prison, not long after the worlds were weaved. His fellow Numen deemed him insane, and wouldn’t allow him to infect their worlds or plans with his dark, maniacal intentions.
Letholdus immediately won the hearts and souls of most of Alvenguard, who see him as God. The other Numen both loath and envy him and some seek to tear down what he has built and take it for himself.
